United Community Centers, Inc. has partnered with Project Hope NY to provide mental health support to individuals and families impacted by COVID-19. Project Hope is a Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) with a six-month contract designed to provide emotional support and assistance to Brooklyn, Manhattan and Bronx residents adversely affected by the COVID 19 pandemic. Project Hope is a program that provides free crisis counseling services to persons, families, and groups most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Project Hope is administered by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) in conjunction with NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and funded by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency).

Crisis Counselor (CC) – Trained paraprofessional or professional who provides outreach, basic support, individual and group crisis counseling, public education and referral. This is a direct service staff position.
Positions are located in East New York/City Line/Cypress Hills/Starrett City in Brooklyn Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and at least three years of experience in case management, community outreach, counseling or related experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences or related field or equivalent combination of experiences and education. (BONUS)
Willing to travel and work evenings and weekends.
Experience with public speaking.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) capabilities are a plus.
Positions is temporary, and pays $25.00/hr. for a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. Health insurance is available
